The TCD/UCD postgraduate history conference is run by postgraduates, for postgraduates, and gives those of us who are researching a forum to test and debate ideas, and is open for all to attend as audience members.
The conference is now in its fourth year. It was first established as a forum for postgraduate students of history to present papers and to engage in debate with their fellow postgraduate students. Papers are between 15-20 minutes in length, with three or four papers being given in a session, and the sessions being chaired by academics from either Trinity or University College Dublin.
This year, the conference will take place on Friday 22nd May in Trinity College Dublin, and on Saturday 23rd May in University College Dublin. Please check back here for a more detailed event planner of paper titles, times and locations.
The theme for the conference this year is Crisis and Continuity - this can relate to any aspect of history, be it social, economic, political or religious.
In previous years, the conference has been exclusively for TCD and UCD students to present papers. For the first time this year, we will be welcoming submissions from any institutions of higher education. We will also accept applications from postgraduate students of any discipline, provided that their papers submitted for the purposes of this conference pertain to history.
In addition, this year is the first year your work might be published in our e-journal. This is an exciting new departure for the conference, and will ensure that the high standards set on the conference day can be recorded for posterity.
If you would like to submit a paper, please visit our submissions page. If you would like directions to the conference, please check back here for links, or alternatively maps are provided on www.tcd.ie and www.ucd.ie.
